"Work Offline" "Try again" --> My Internet Connection is not Detected !!
Please, HELP ME !!
I'm desperate. I tried everything, but I'm sure someone here already had this problem once and can help me with it. I have a DSL connection, using Internet Explorer 5 on Win98Se. Almost everytime I load a page, a window pop-ups "Work Offline, Cancel or Try Again"...even on advertising Pop-ups. When I choose the option to try again, everything works fine, until I Load another page or a banner pops. It didn't bother me much until now. Everytime the "Work Offline" window appears, my Internet Explorer seems to freeze and I have to Close it using "CTRL-ALT-DEL". This also happens when a banner pops...
It's becoming very irritating.
Can someone help me, please ??

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections.
Click on the connection name you use to go online, and hit "Set Default". Then choose "Never Dial a Connection", unless ofcourse you connect to the internet through internet explorer. If you do, you might want to consider downloading RASPPPoE from http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~normanb#Download .
You can also try to repair Internet Explorer by going to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and chosing to Add/Remove internet explorer. When you are prompted, choose repair.
Hopefully, that will stop Internet Explorer from nagging you to connect.

ALL recommended RWIN values are under 1MB, so there is no way they would affect the PC performance.
Any usable CPU / RAM combination should be able to handle high-speed traffic, however slower computers overloaded with a lot of running applications tend to have slower transfers by default... Simply because there are not enough resources left to fully exploit the potential of the Netwrk card, Winsock and so on.
Still, higher RWIN is better in all cases. The only exception is that when you go above 65535, the header gets a bit bigger, so there might be a slight performance drop just above a RWIN of 65535
If there is high packet loss or latency on the line, higher RWIN is still better, simply because you have the potential of higher throughput...
