Post by lblax »

wer are on a new system and about a month ago things started going bad at night dropping from 3000 or better to 50 - 100 at night
no more people on here than there was pings also bad at night and trace route shows 50 to 100 percent packet loss on 1st 2 hops which are local 6 miles away i have been in constant contact with co. they knowe they have a leak but dont seem to concerned so i ran online tests for a week and then sent them to teir one support and they are looking into it pigs get over 1200 at night. the same day i sent all my tests in performance was good that night but something weird happened that night i was getting 2000 down and my upload jumped to over 1000 the next night download went crappy again but upload are still high sometimes 2 times as high as downloads last night it was 300 down and 800 up today it was 3700 down and 1200 up whats the deal????? i tested from several diff. sites all were basically the same i used pcpitstop- dslreports and speakeasy

You're on @Home and it will get a lot worse before it gets better.

You are alos using a proxy. Try turning that off and see what you get.

when i turn of proxy at night is speeds things up but in the daytime it slows things down with the proxy off. what about the big packet loss on the 1st 2 hops??? so you think it may just be the @home prob. at night and not a local cable prob.?? i will be glad in a few days we switch to own system with mediacom and even though they are using att backbone they are not affiliated with att broudband i gyuess they are going with the mothership att worldnet

if the first hops you r speaking of that have packet loss is your gateway then you need to bite the bullet and call support

when i did support for @Home if their was any packet loss at all to the gateway that did not go away after a repush of the modem them we rolled a truck for cable RF issues

the tech on the phone MIGHT be able to figure it out if you r lucky, but more than likely you will get a confused ******* that will not want to do anything especially roll a truck

when you get the repush of the modem be as nice as possible and ask the tech to give you a call back in the 1-1.5 hours it will take for the repush to go through..................tell him look man im cool and it does not count aginst your call time to call out and i wont yell at you or anything when you tell me a truck will come out in a month

otherwise you can do like Kip said and ride it out.........still might need a truck roll in the end..........or maybe not.........chance it and see what tech support says :) :) :D :D   :( :p

You are right in the middle of the transition. One of our members was up all night babysitting the new system.

Having said that, as Rodrod5 points out, it sounds like something not right in the local area.

Continuous 100% packet loss can be intentional and not a problem.

He's a member on the board who works for your cable company. He has been baby sitting the changeover.

Indy is his full name on the board.
