I just did a mem bench mark on sisoft sandra and get a blue screen, so I restart the comp and went thru the scan disk, after scan disk my comp boot up and stop after the welcome screen. Is there any way I can do a system restore in DOS, I am running WinXP pro.

before booting into XP hit F8 and boot into safe mode and it will prompt you to run restore once you hit the desktop. Follow the on screen prompts, choose a date to roll back and reboot.

np, I had to use it a few times .. for some reason this install of XP on my system dosn't like the new VIA 4-1 drivers, so had to roll back.

I must have been lucky - although I had a few problems with later beta versions +NVIdia + AMD. thanks again.

Thanks Murman, already try that and didn't work. What I did was install XP again ontop of the corropt one and back up some of my files and setting. Now I am in the process of fdisk, format and do a clean install of XP.

The option to restore in safemode didn't work or didn't fix your problem?

I did hit F8 during boot and choose restore, and that didn't fix the problem, so I put in the XP cd and boot from the CD, click install XP, and there is an option there to repair XP. When I get back to desktop, I backup a couple file and did a clean install.
