ping question

Review and discuss ISPs as well (AT&T / SBC, BellSouth, Bright House, CableOne, Charter, Comcast, Covad, Cox, Cablevision / Optimum Online, TMobile, Verizon FIOS, Shaw, Telus, Starlink, etc.)

i have dsl is 250 ms pings to high???

Depends on where your pinging from. If it's from Uzbakistan, then that's not bad, but if its anywhere in the US/Europe that is much to high.

On CS, I range from 37-100 ping on my 1500/256 DSL.

250 pings are good or bad depending like was said before, on your location and also on what speed dsl you have.
Just another tech trying to earn a buck.

The cap on the line doesn't have any relation to pings at all.

There are 3 main things;

1. Line Encoding
2. Proximity to the POP
3. Backbone traffic / route

For instance; Back in the glory days of Northpoint, their 144k IDSL at 27k feet out (Coppermountain DSLAM, 2B1Q line encoding) will have a lower ping than a 7.1mb/640k Verizon line at 250 feet (Alcatel DSLAM DMT ADSL Line Share) to the same machine.
Linux. n: Appears on your hard drive when you realize how much Microsoft sucks.
