Good score 3d benchmark???

Post by Phantom-Vortex »

I scored 9800 on 3dbenchmark, thats not to bad huh?Everything default nothing oc'ed geforce ti 500 & Xp 1900 on new Abit kt7 with 133 harddrive and crucial ddr.Im asking because I have not been on the up and up on the benchmark scores and I figured they were waaay up there by now, so is this a decent score????

I dunno, isn't that a really old benchmark? 3DMark2001 is the current one....not 3DMark2000...which is outdated. On 3DMark 2001....pulling a score of at least 6000 is pretty decent.

perhaps he tested at a lower resolution and bit depth

what you need to do is just open up 3dmark2001 and hit benchmark

don't change any settings

doing it that way is considered Default 3DMark2001 settings which insures we all have the same settings so the tests are fair and we can compare them

Dragothic is one of the tests from 3D Mark 2001, not sure about the alien thing but there is a couple of tests that aren't supported by my current graphics card so my guess is that you are using 3DMark2001.

If so your score is very good for your specs I had a quick look at the GF3 Ti500 scores with AMD XP chips and the top score is 10855 with quite a lot of overclocking and a pelter so your score is well up there with the best.

So all you have to do now is make sure that you are infact using 3D Mark 2001 set to default and not 3D Mark 2000 and you can feel proud of your score :D

Dammit why can't my gfx card go past 305core 515mem I want to break 6000 so I can quit pushing my system just to beat some kid from god knows where. :o

Yea I downloaded the 2001 benchmark on my new pc ,used the latest drivers from nvidia and just ran the benchmark at default settings,I ran it again and this time for some reason I scored a bit lower??This time I scored 9750 ,so I take it this is a really good score then?I know I scored 6400 on my older T-bird system with the G3 in it so I figured this one would do better.

Thanks for the info :p

You can expect a small difference in scores each time due to the fact that the tests run a little different each time. 9750 is a very good for a none overclocked system. you could easily get it above 10000 with some tweaking and overclocking but it's up to you to take the risk.

My trick is to overclock during the benchmark and then whens it's finished that reset it back, this way I get less risk and better score. :D

give you better memory bandwidth peformance, try changing up the settings to CAS 2 and enabling all the ram goodies that are on the Abit board! :)

Just remember to increase the I/O voltage slightly and the vcore a bit if you are having stability problems.

waita second, your getting near 10,000 3dmarks NOT overclocked, nothing overclocked? at deafult settings?????

WTF?

With my MSI K7T266Pro 2 (kt266a) and AXP 1800+ and the Radeon 8500 with Latest Drivers I get 8192 3DMarks at Default settings

With my GF3 Ti 500 I'm getting 7968 3DMarks at default settings

hell even with my Radeon 8500 overclocked to 300/300 i'm only geting 8511 3DMarks

HOW IN THE HELL are you gettting near 10,000

what are your ssytem specs?

well He's running with a GF3 Ti 500, the XP1900, a ATA/UDMA133 capable drive at UDMA/ATA133 and using the Abit KR7 (I'm assuming, the KT7 is an OLD board). If he tweaked the ram, I can see him hitting 10gs, but you may be right.

I got a GF3 Ti 500 too

An AXP 1900+ runs at 1.6 Ghz, my 1800+ is at 1.53Ghz, I doubt 700Mhz more would increase the 3dmark scores THAT much, However, I can prove that by overclocking to 1.6Ghz, but only by FSB since my AXP isn't unlocked.

The Hard Drive, that has no bearing on 3DMark2001 results, he could have SCSI 160 drive and it wouldn't effect benchmark results in 3DMark2001.

I also have a KT266A based mobo, the MSI K7T266A and have totally Tweaked my memory to their fastest settings.

the ONLY other way I can think maybe he's geting those high of scores is he has his FSB/Mem bus at an ungodly speed, maybe 166FSB/Mem Bus with Cas2 or something, heh. 3DMark DOES like high FSB's, that could do it. But he said nothing was overclocked, so I dunno.

I'll be waiting for a response on this matter :)

master7 I already explained that the hardware he has still won't give him that high of a score unless SOMETHING is overclocked
