Problem with WMP in XP

When I play a CD or MP3 in windows media player under XP, sometimes system freeze and giving a high pitch sound, any fix, thanks. My spec below.
Samsung 760v TFT @ 1280 X 1024 32 bit
Lian-Li PC67 with 2 80mm U1A / 2 HD cooler intake and 1 80mm H1A / 1 80mm ADDA exhaust
NF7-S v2.0 (BIOS 18) (SATA 10033) (nforce pack 2.45) AS2 on NB Heat sink on SB
Alpha PAL 8045 with Thermaltake Smart Fan (blowing away from HS)
XP2500+ Barton/AQXEA (9) 0323/11X200/AS2/Vcore 1.725/DDR 2.6/Chipset 1.7/Agp 1.5/Idle 36/Load 51
Mushkin blk lvlII DDR3200 2X256MB 11-2-2-2 DC
IDE 1 master Plextor CDRW 24X
IDE 2 master Sony DRU510A DVD+/- r/rw CDRW
Sata Raid 2X IBM 60GB GXP60
Sony Floppy

you have 2 choices to solve your problem.

1) goto into System Hardware and update your SBLive Driver from there. It will seek out a driver from the windows update server if it is there.

2) goto the Creative website and download the updated sound driver 11/29/01 rev 1

I would first try the Microsoft WDM driver. That's the most stable.

I had done both already, I had the problem before and after the update.

try disabling the box enable digital audion for this cd rom device

go to system properties then hardware then device manager then dvd/cd drives then click the drive then select properties and clear the check box

write back if works

Thanks everybody for the reply, I had the problem playing music CD or mp3 off the HD, only when the visualization is on. If I just play the songs from track1 to end, it is ok, but if I double click on individual song to play, that's when the freezing happen.
