Bad Lag in Q3

Post by MrTRiX »

Hi I have Shaw@Home and Windows 98SE. Ive done all the Speedguide tweaks and such. I got 512MB RAM, AMD Duron 1000mhz, and a ATI Radeon 32MB VE DDR. My Q3 is Rate-25000, Snaps-40, cl_maxpackets-100. I lag on most servers even when my ping is around 70-110. I was wonderin if there is anything I can do to fix it.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 49 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
I think I've done enough conventions to know how to spell Melllvar.

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Do you have an adjuster? This needs to be a 1 to allow scaling.

Sorry for the delay in answering. Go here and get the adjuster. While you're there... read about the adjuster and what it can do for you (make adjustments in the registry). Please read because if you mess this up, it can sometimes mean reloading your OS.

Again... sorry for the delay.

Doc, scaleing is turned on. If it wasn't he wouldn't be showing his correct RWIN value.

The Cl_maxpackets is way too much. I would recomend about 35-45 maxx for Q3a.
