Take the SG TCP/IP Analyzer test located at the top of this forum and post the results here in a reply to this thread. Please X out your IP address.

Look here for speed tests: http://www.testmyspeed.com/

Choose a test site that's close to your location as it will be the most reliable.

transfer rate: 518 kbits/sec
This is not a speed test!
Even though it's not a speed test, you should get a higher rate. I get a higher rate and my capped download speed is 1520kbps. Try an RWIN of 29200 (I'm assuming you use DrTcp), apply and reboot. Make sure everything else is set to default. Take a speed test where Earthmofo suggested and also download something from a fast site, such as http://www.happypuppy.com.

Good luck.

TCP properties for IP = XXXXXXXXXX ()
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312461)

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 37 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Here you go guys tell me what I should fix and how?
thanks again!

Looks okay. Do you like your download speeds?

Depends on which cable system you're on. Most are capped at 2000 down and 128 up. I'm on Cox@home but mine is capped at 3000/300.

Just used test my speed.com. Here was the results:

Your line speed:
1041.5 kbits/s
127.6 K bytes/sec
(3MB file download)

Your line speed:
1597.5 kbits/s
195.8 K bytes/sec
(500k file download)

Your line speed:
840.1 kbits/s
103 K bytes/sec
(300k file download)

Here are my settings:

TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 20556.8 kbps (2569.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8222.72 kbps (1027.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 37 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Is there anything I could change to make it faster? I've had it faster before I formatted my HD and did a clean install of Win XP.

Try RWIN 51100. It's small but fast. I use it on one of my other machines running XP and get excellent results.

Small rwins work good if you get low pings to the sites you download from. Turn TCP123Opts to 0 if you are gonna use that RWIN.
Work: DQ
Comp: AXP 1600+, MSI K7T266a Pro2 RU, 512MB PC2100, GF3 Ti200 128MB
