how do i benchnark my connection speed?

ive been looking though some of the forum posts snd ive seen ppl posting there connection benchmarks or something like a benchmark. how can i get my connection speed benchmarked?

Downloading a large file from a fast FTP server is as about as accurate as you can get. For a test file use the following:

http://www.happypuppy.com/win/demos...ters-win-2.html

It's a very large file (150 MB+) on a very fast FTP. You only need to download half of the file to get an accurate speed..
