Hey I here is my analyzer results:
TCP options string = 020405b40103030001010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 51100
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 51100
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2044 kbps (255.5 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 817.6 kbps (102.2 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 44 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
What is the best test site to see for actual download speeds?
So we can get a ballpark of were I'm at. And then from there We can talk about tweaking.
You helped me before when i had win me and i was hitting 1906up/370down out of possible 2000/384 I have Roadrunner in central florida.
DO IT AGAIN!!!!!!!
Now i have xp
I have done all the tweaks on this site as far as turning of system restore and auto updates(by the way how can i create a sys restore point, or can i not while it is turned off) and downloading cablenut and the patches. I used Lobos rwin of 51100 and seem to be getting along ok with that but sometimes just seems slow
Just incase anyone else is interested my specs are 1.1 athlon processor 512 mb ram 32 mb nVidia TNT2 M64 graphics card

Lost Speed...
I have WinME, 1.2g Athlon, 512 mb DDR, mediaone roadrunner in Detroit area.
I also have cablenut v4.02.0016
Before my crash 2 weeks ago, I was dowloading files at around 200kbyt/s average, due to some program I used once along time agao and can't find or remember the name. Now I download at only 84kbyt/s.
I was going much slower until I discovered that my PC-cillin virus program was slowing me down. I was only doing around 20kbyt/s.
I've tried all the tweaks posted here and haven't found my lost speed yet. Something must be missing in these settings because I know I'm capable of much more.
If you can offer any suggestions and cablenut setting I would appreciate it.
My Cablenut seetings are currently:
BSDUrgent= 1
DefaultRcvWindow=513920
DefaultTTL=64
GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize=513920
MaxConnections=1000
PMTUBlackHoleDetect=0
PMTUDiscovery=1

Tcp1323Otps=1
MaxDupAcks=3
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server=40

Bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside Cablenut on desktop the numbers below go in 3 places in W2k and XP, they are: TcpWindowSize, Default Recieve Window, Global Max TcpWindowSize: take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 531440, 548960, 554800 or 560640
You do not have to show me but check analyzer at Test Tweak Here, below in sig, to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work. Click on tools at top of IE, internet options, delete files and offline files (This is safe, temp files) and click on clear history after EVERY test . Quick speed test : choose location closest to you: http://www.speakeasy.net/main.php?page=sup_pops
Speedtest may open another browser, so check taskbar and close other, no other programs should be running, No AIM, ICQ, Virus scanner, Firewall, nothing
1.) Make sure defrag has been run, defragmented files slow you down.
2. At top of IE, click on Tools, internet options, click on delete files and click on offline files (It's safe), click on clear history, yes
3.) Go to Start button, programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup, Click OK (Safe)
4.) Run scandisk (Short version)
5.) Scandisk on XP?
Click on My Computer, select Drive that XP is on, RIGHT click on BLANK place, select properties, then tools at top tab, click check now, check box automattically fix system errors, click start.
Once you find fast number for you, you want to save it, on file at top of adjuster click on that, save custom settings, put RWIN size in as name and click on save, now if you ever want these settins back, click on file, open custom settings file, and click on RWIN number, then click on save to registry at bottom, and REBOOT, your done.
Blank boxes in adjuster just mean default values are being used.
SAVE SETTING's so we do not have to do this again, directions above, good luck.
If you are not from USA go to http://www.testmyspeed.com and select test site close to you

DefaultReceieveWindow, try 513920. Seemed to work best for you.Originally posted by Storm
I do not have TCP window size in cablenut, just Default and Global. I also am not running W2K or XP, I am running WinME.
My last speed test at RWIN 373360 was 1322 dn / 268 up
Should I try the suggested RWIN by Lobo since I don't use W2k or XP??
No need to follow Lobo's big list

Storm-Real quick before i post my results. Its always good to find someone with same isp and compare (just maybe a little closer to you)I am in fl and have rr i am capped at 2000/384 and i am running norton 2002 with xp and norton firewall and i don't really think that antivirus software slows you down that much(these guys would know more than me)but i used to run win me and was getting about 1906/370 with halflifers adj. but i am in a rural neighborhood with one tap on my road right in front of my house. So my point is cable is not a dedicated line so that might be it in the rock city
Halflifer here are my results:
Test running.........
**Speed 1921(down)/369(up) kbps**
(At least 38 times faster than a 56K modem)
Finished.
I am using lobos suggested 51100 with this is there anything else i should try?

Also this is a follow up on the above messege:
When i put in my rwin number in the cable nut adj for xp there is 3 boxes default receivewindow, Globel MaxTcp Window Size, and Tcp window size. Should i put the rwin number in all three of those?
Or what.

So which ones do i put them in, and who needs them and would it cause me to be slower having all three?
thanks halflifer

Thanks guys for your help.
I went back to my originals after trying the others as they seemed to get the best result. (513920)
I used to do speeds like Cameron's speeds so there must be something missed somewhere. I had use a simple, automatic program some time ago that seemed to kick the door open. Wish I could remember it. I thought I had gotten it from tweakfiles which is now closed. Oh well.
When I tested with my virus scan (PC-cillin) my download speed was at 680, without its at 1400. PC-cillin has 3 scanners: real time scan, pop3scan, and webtrap. I had to shut off pop3scan and webtrap manually in the system manager because they wouldn't close when the virus scan was closed in the system tray.
My firewall seems to have no efect on my speed at all. (Zonealarm)
Thanks Again

Hey as i said before i am capped at 2000/384 but I am consistantly breaking this cap most recent being 2067/370. I have not broke the upstream yet though.
this is the speed test you gave me and the one i am using everytime.
http://bos.speakeasy.net/
I am not complaining but i didn't think this was possible
