Audio ?

Post by t »

I have an old SB/Live Value sound card from my Gateway system along with the Boston Accoustics 3 piece speakers.
My problem is the speaker volume control is non functional. (I can only control the volume from the icon in the sys. tray)
Should I upgrade to a better card or speakers or both?
Thanks,....t

"Can only control the volume from the icon in the systray"? Opposed to what other volume in your OS? Or are you saying the volume knob on the right speaker doesn't work? BA650 set? Nice little set...great bang for the buck...have a pair of those on my other system to the left of me...love 'em, use 'em for LAN parties too! The best sounding little 3 piece system in it's pricerange...in my opinion.

if it bothers you "enough" just get some new speakers..

sounds like the volume control on the speaker broke..

If you like your speakers, get them fixed. Write to BA about getting a new pot for your volume nob. Maybe that might be too high tech though. I'd throw them away and get you a new set of Martian Logan's 4 of em with a center channel with a Sunfire 8" woofer. The 8 inch will save you a little money over the 10".
Now so you have enough juice for them, add in a Krell 5 channel amp. That should be high tech enough.

The soundcard? Nah.....keep it and save yourself a little money.
