Yeah exactly. I'd rather get a nice GeForce 3 than the X-box.

Because X-Box sucks... it has nice graphics but games are boring and it sucks! That crap freezes every 3 minutes... POS

Sticking with my PS2... and since I love Nintendo... Im getting the game cube too.

Why you guys hate it so much? Why hate it when you should embrace it as a new console that compete in the console war. I don't really care if XBox was made by Microsoft as long as the games that are made for it are good then I would be happy. Plus you can't judge the XBox just yet because the launch games don't fully show the power that the Xbox has in it. Unless Halo did show it or any other games then stupid me :D . Me personally, I'm getting a PS2 because of MGS2 and SD:JBI. I really can't afford two consoles at this moment but maybe in the future. So don't hate and embrace.

EAx,

I have played many hours on my Xbox.... NO LOCKUPS!! This system works quite well.

I fail to understand folks irrational hatred for inanimate objects such as game consoles. This is a cool system, so far.

I don't. My retort is though, why do you hate the Game Cube? Its not "for kids", its a freaking SYSYTEM. If you want to say anything is for kids, talk about the games.

you can make any argument you want but I still don't see the need to spend 200 - 500 on a new xbox or ps2 or gamecube when i have a computer that can play any pc game there is

that computer is upgradeable
the software is updateable
i can play online all i want
i can surf the web
i can watch dvd's without buying the extra dvd remote thingy for xbox
there are many more things too

That is a good reason. Computers can do just about anything that another electronic device can do. Play cd, mp3's, play games, talk to friends, chat with friends, and alot of other stuff

Your right the gamecube is not for kids but all the games nintendo has made in the recent years are for kids. Do any of you remember that campaign they ran about 2 yeas ago? They made like 4 games that weren't for kids to try to get people to stop thinking its just for kids.

1st/2nd party developed games off the top of my head that aren't "kiddy"...

Wave Race 64
Goldeneye 007
1080 Snowboarding
Blast Corps
F-Zero X
Jet Force Gemini
Ridge Racer 64
Legend of Zelda: OoT
Legend of Zelda: MM
Perfect Dark (boooooo!)
NBA Courtside series
Ken Griffey series
Excitebike 64
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

Now I would hardly call any of those games kiddy, even by your skewed definition.

Unfortunately, as soon as there's a friend over, the computer sort of sucks for tandem play. Plus, you're confined to your monitor, instead of your comfy couch and your big TV. There's ways around these problems, of course, but they are definately valid points. Also, consoles are totally Plug and Play - no crashes, pages or conflicts.

I'll give the X-Box a try, since GameCube seems to be geared towards children, and I've heard PS/2 is a bit of a flop..........

It sucks though - in Canada it's like 650 bucks. :(

You Americans have it good in that respect! ;)

You forget though. Alot of games that Nintendo brings over here are from Japan. They dont necessarily need guts galore to have fun with a game, they need tentacle rape nudity dating simulation, but we cant handle that, so when they remove the tentacle rape nudity dating simulation for the American market, you're left with a fat plumber that stomps on goomba's heads or a pantsless elf that turns bad guys to jewels by whacking them on the head with a sword.

Oh, and this is a joke by the way. :D

But the same still applies. You only interpret Japanese styled games as kiddie, and that is your opinion. The X-Box games are made in America first, and over here we culturally endorse excessive violence and are programmed by marketing people to see it as a selling point.

Plain and simply, you are just acting as programmed TA.

How the **** are they kiddy games? The 3 best racing games in their fields (water, snowboard, dirtbike) with more realism and deeper controls than the competitors, plus a baseball game aren't kiddy in the least.

Now wait a second. Just because Nintendo retains certain franchises like Pokemon, doesn't mean they make games just for kids. Look at some of the BIG "mature" titles on the N64, the system with probably the fewest BIG titles yet.

Mario 64. Cool game, for kids and adults.

Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. Sure, kids can play it, but I know many adult (18+) gamers who loved this game, myself included.

Super Smash Bros. Fine, say its for kids because there's two pokemon characters. But I had far more fun with this "fighting" game than I ever did with Tekken, DOA, or VF. "Drunken Smash Bros." was always the big thing in my area.

Goldeneye. Need I say more? Quite possibly the best console FPS game, with only something like Halo having a chance at being better.

Perfect Dark. Again, another decent FPS game, with a bit more blood if you happen to think that's what makes a game mature.

Turok. Never really liked it, but its a bloody shooter like the rest. Not exactly for kids.

Banjo Kazoie. I don't care if you think its for kids, this game was fun. Probably the best platformer in recent years other than Klonoa.

Paper Mario. Fine, say its for kids with the "cute" paper graphics. I don't care, this was a decent sequel to the AWESOME (but practically unplayed) Mario RPG.

CONKER'S BAD FUR DAY Probably the most "adult" game I've seen on a console yet. Raunchy, sick, disgusting, and probably the game that made me laugh almost as much as any of the Monkey Island ones did.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Zelda again, but with a much darker theme. Nothing like playing a game where you know everyone you meet will die in 3 days if you don't pull off some heroic stunts. For kids, but the adults will get far more out of it.

You also remember that it had many of the games that other systems had. You want sports games like Madden or NHL? Nintendo had them in addition to the PC and PSX. Want (cheesy) horror games like Resident Evil 2? The eventually ported it to the N64 (and remember that Capcom is making their RE games EXCLUSIVELY for the GCN). The N64 had racing games the others did, others like Star Fox and Donkey Kong, hell, even many of the "rastlin'" games made it to the N64.

No, I don't think it lived up to what the (S)NES ever did, but I hardly think it was just for kids, nor do I think their new system will be that way either.

Hmm, looks like your examples are pretty bad ones. Mario? Zelda? Super Smash Bros with Pokemon? Come on.

Fine, Mario may be considered "kiddie", but ZELDA? Come on, calling that a game strictly for kids is utterly stupid in my opinion, especially without having any facts to back your opinion up. Zelda, ESPECIALLY Majora's Mask (as I said) is a game adults will get far more out of than any kid.

And yes, Smash Bros had 2 Pokemon characters. AS WELL AS Link, Star Fox, Samus, Captain Falcon, Mario, Donkey Kong, etc.

Besides, you make it sound like no other systems have games for kids. The PSX/PS2 did, the DC did, and even the XBOX has games for kids as well. At least Nintendo's "kid" games are GOOD GAMES.

I prefer my list to BJS's, as I thought Banjo-Kazooie was overly cute with lots of boring collecting and Turok was just bad. Nevertheless, Paper Mario ruled all and SM64 is widely considered the best game of the last generation. If you can't find enjoyment in those games I pity you.

Also, the Zelda series aren't kiddy by any definition. MM has a very ominous tone to it, and I dare you to go beat Zelda 2.

Also said B-K was one of the best platformers in recent memory. Personally I find nothing fun in collecting lots of stuff in videogames, that's what I prefer the more action oriented platformers like Mario/Sonic. They have collecting, but it's not required. Infact, I think it's possible to beat SM64 without picking up a single coin...although granted you wouldn't get 100% completion. B-K would get maybe a 4/10 from me with 5 being average.

Okay, maybe I should've made this part clear. Its the best platformer I've played in recent years, and since Klonoa, Mario, and B-K are the only three that I can think of off the top of my head..well, you see. :p It was kinda fun though, even without any depth, but its definately nowhere near Klonoa or Mario though. ;)

Conkers bad fur day was made by nintendo to get away from thier kiddi game image and so was perfect dark. Goldeneye is probably my favorite game ever. But that was early n64. The other games are still for little kids.
