Red Alert 2 and the Linksys 4-port Router
Hi all,
I have been trying to play RA2 online. First of all I have a cable connection to the net and 2 comps hooked to the router. I downloaded the latest patch for RA2 v1.006
ok here is my problem whenever I go join a game is says that I am pinging Red so therefore, bad ping even though i have cable. I know the problem is the firewall built into the router (BEFSR41). I tell them it is my firewall and they say thats what they all say and they kick me. Each and every other game I join I get kicked this is pissing me off. I have tried turning off the firewall and still the stupid red ping. damnit RA 2 v1.006 patch said it supports all firewalls and still the damn red ping. Even though I ping fine in other game like UT. Damn plz help really want to play online.
thx

Try this dude it would definitanly disable your firewall.
First of all if you are running micro**** xp disable the firewall in network connections advanced tab.
Ok next step. Go into your router. Start-run-Type telnet(space)(your gateway ip) so it should look like this telnet 192.168.0.1 if that is your default gateway it probally is. then so so server setup. Under 1 enter in a staic routed lan ip address. example if you have 5 computers on the lan your ips are 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, 192.168.0.4, ect Set a static lan ip of like 192.168.0.10 making sure you are conflicting with anyothers computers ip. then save you configuration by hitting enter until you see save to rom. Then go into you tcip properties and choose to obtain ip. enter in your ip that you gave your self 192.168.0.10 and your default gateway is 192.168.0.1. apply reboot.
I am not fimiliar with your router but this is what you need to do. It would be somewhere alone these lines. I also do now about the ips I gave ya but those ip are standard routed lan ips.
