Windows XP
Motorola Surfboard SB4100 USB
Roadrunner cable service
Surfboard SB4100 XP/2000/ME USB Beta drivers

If you click on Network Connections in your control panel, it will bring up your LAN/Cable modem. Click on it and tell me what connection speed you cable guys are at.

My main question is whether a connection speed of 1.0 Megabits is normal? I thought the SB4100 and Roadrunner was supposed to be like 2.3 Megabits??

IF I load the Windows 98 SB4100 USB drivers the connection speed goes down to 750.0 Kilobits. So I will stick with the beta drivers for now...

Hi, I also have Win XP and I have Win 98. In both Operating Systems my connection is 1.0 Mbps...
But it's in fact a 512 kbps DSL connection... It says 1.0 mbps but I cannot go faster than 512 kbps....
I confirmed your problem...
bye

Im on XP also, and it shows mien as 10mbps.

But guys, that just means the ethernet setting. It isnt the actual speed of your LAN. May as well ignore it.

Seems strange. You guys should look a little closer. Make sure it says 10.0 Mbps and not 1.0 Mbps.

If you are in fact at 10 million bits per sec then you'll see 10.0 Mpbs

Yes, that is correct - 100 Mbps. It is because I am on a 100 Mbps LAN, which in turn connects to a router which connects to my ISP at 1.5 Mbps / 384 kbps. XP returns the speed of the LAN (in my case) and NOT the speed of the internet connection.

I think XP is returning the speed of the connection between your PC and your cable modem...

An SB4100 with everything set to auto-detect will show 100.0 Mbps.

That may be true for some, but I don't have a cable modem, nor an SB4100.

You dont. Its nto liek this actually matters. The guys that have a 100mbps conenction to their SB have much slower speeds than my 10mbps connection I bet.

The only part of my connection that runs at 100Mbps is between my PC and SB4100... NYR 56 if you are faster than I am Hooray!

MILEY maybe try taking that SB4100 off of USB and running a NIC in your machine?
