What are you paying?

Post by Kevin »

My local cable co. was sold to new owners and they upped my internet bill from $40 to $48, which while worth it considering how good the service has been seems a little bit high relatively speaking. What does everyone else pay?

49 bucks to the phone co for the DSL line itself to the house, 20 bucks for my DSL account with my ISP (I don't use the phone company), phone company sneaks in another 10 - 15 bucks here and there on this surcharge and that tax...all in all about 80 - 90 bucks. Looking at what I do for usage and demands....well worth it compared to dial up. Own all equipment, 1500/128 PPPoA line.

I pay $45 per month for my cable modem access - $30 per month for Roadrunner and $15 per month for the cable modem. If I have my own cable modem, the monthly fee is $30. I'm going to buy my own cable modem one of these days and pay the $30 per month. The speeds are 3000 Mbps down/256 kbps up, cost isn't going up, but I wish that the bandwidth would be increased.
Computer specs:

Dell Dimension 2350 with a 1.7Ghz Intel Celeron Proccesor, Windows XP Home Edition, 80 Gig hard drive, 768Mb of DDRAM PC2100, CDRW and cdrom. Cox.net at 4Mbps down and 512Kbps up.

Paying $29.99cdn and $10 modem rental to a total of $39.99cdn/month (@$26.66us) plus taxes to amount to $45.99cdn/month (@$30.05us) for 960/120 ADSL service. This seems to be a good deal now since I looked at what you guyz are paying in the US and in US dollars too !

Here is MA it is around 50 per month for Charters 1.5 down and 768 up package. To me the upload is really worth it. They have been getting bogged down lately though. But the tech I spoke to told me they were slapping some more fiber in there to speed up the service. I think it is really worth it.

$49/month for DSL. 1500kb/s ][ 256kb/s

For starters: $50 for Activation and $75 for USB modem - but I save $4/month since I don't have to have a 2nd phone line
