Cable Sucks

Post by Lee_Nover »

My download speeds have been sufferin lately. I called my cable ISP and asked if they have received any other complaints, he said yes they have. No wonder @home went into the ****ter. Ever since they filed for Chapter 11, my speeds have been affected. None of these patches seem to work for me anymore. I even tried a signal amplifier as a last resort and that doesn't work. I then called twice to my ISP and asked to send out a technician to come and looka ere at my setup. They never called back for an appointment. I called a few days later and said I would cancel this POS dial up cable crap of they don't send a dude over right away, still no calls back. Can anyone recommend DSL, and has anyone encountered problems like I have with their DSL providers? I am flippin sick and tired of cable and all the packet loss I have gotten. My download speeds are now slower than my 300 baud Hayes Commodore 64 modem I use to have. CABLE SUCKS!!!!

Yep, I think ever since the bankruptcy deal they have. My speed lags like **** man. I called them and asked if they can send someone out to test my line signal. They said that I have to pay $50 for that cuz it's extra. Damn, this sucks bad.

Also I tried everything as you did but still no go. To be honest, I really missed my 550+ KB/s download speed :(

I tried to look for DSL and nope I can only get qualified for IDSL only which is equivalent to ISDN 144 kbps down and 144 kbps up. Not good. So for now just have to hang with Cable dude.

Wait until the server change is done, then you should expect to have your speed back. :)

Your crappy speeds have nothing...I repeat, nothing to do with @home filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. If Excite@home were to burn to the ground in the morning, your speeds would still remain the same. Your local cable company provides your service or "connectivity", while @home is your ISP. If @home went down, you'd lose email but not your connection. In any case, all the local cable providers have and have had plans in place to deal with such an outage. AT&T has been bailing out @home as of late. They just made an agreement with them to help @home resume new cable installs.

The bottom line is this; you're crappy speeds are the result of hardware problems on your local cable providers end or configuration problems on yours.

Why don't you post some tracert and ping results so we can get hardcore with your problem.

If you are getting packet loss and are a digital cable tv subscriber, you can check the signal to noise ratio yourself right on your damn tv!!!

BTW...I'm on comcast@home and my speeds are fine.

from now on uod2001 is my hero!
I would have said it but I dont like to put up with little b@stards thinking they know everything. Excite@Home owns the domain, ok. Your IP address comes from your ISP, ie: mine being Shaw Cable... MY CABLE COMPANY, some people are retarded eh uod2001?

If you are here to attack people, than please leave. As of right now, you haven't offered significant reasons to attribute to the conversation, or the topic at hand, if you will.

You know what ISP stands for, so your above sentence doesn't really make sense.

I think the other guy is a bit over temper man. I agree with you Crispy.

There's nothing wrong with my hardware. I used all the brandname ****s like Best Data Cable Modem and I bought that **** for $200. My Ethernet is 3COM, and my computer is pretty damn fast with 1.0 GHz CPU and 1.0 GB of RAM. With cablenut adjuster installed and tried all the RWINs but getting no where. So tell me is it my hardware??
