How Do I change this settings in WinxP? PLEASE HELP!!

Post by Trancentral »

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 110 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Just so you know you can not edit your MTU in Windows XP (at least if you are on a PPPoE based connection anyway).

You can't,,, well hopefully he has cable then.....

Why can't you edit your MTU size?????????????????

Like that makes no sense!!!

Anyway Trancentral, your MTU size is maximized for cable, but too large if you have DSL using PPPoE.

You can not edit the MTU if using PPPoE, from the developer at Microsoft "Unfortunately we don't have a regkey to change this value for PPPoE.
What should happen is that the ISP should negotiate the correct MRU in
PPP for their network. We will support that and set the MTU
accordingly."

Have you tried our speed patches? 2k speed patches will work on Windows XP. If you have a warez beta version... I doubt you will be able to change that RWIN..

Then XP should select the right MTU size. Thats excellent!!
