@Home Speeds
Okay well my service has ran great forever, untill about a month ago when my ping in gaming jumps to 300+ all the time. I've had technicians out and they say that my system is fine. I'm networking this modem also, but we've always networked it.. and even when I unhook the modem from the hub and do a direct connect to my PC it's still the same, also I've tried resetting the modem, changing operating systems, formatting, and calling them numerous times. I have no idea what to do at all, I've also tweaked out anything and everything I could. Here's some stuff to help you decypher this.
The modem is a...
SURFboard SB3100 that I'm renting from COX@Home.
The settings I got from the analyzer are...
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 255552
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 63888
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10222.08 kbps (1277.76 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4088.832 kbps (511.104 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = OFF
Time to live left = 54 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
Also this morning I pinged to the gateway and I got this...
Ping statistics for 24.9.9.1:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 103ms, Maximum = 198ms, Average = 147ms
If you need any other information to help me determine the problem, let me know. I just need some seriously help.

Yeah my cable light does flash a lot even when I'm not messing with the internet at all. Well a month I've waited.. how much longer am I supposed to wait, lolz. I already did download all those patches and same result. Argh, I'm so frustrated with this. I was just in a server playing a game and I was spiking everywhere from 70 to 1500. I can't stand this.

I have the same problem. Starting in September, my speeds took a nosedive. After having a tech check the lines and all, it turns out it's because of school starting up. I live in a Big-10 town and they apparently got a lot more students signing up than expected.
I showed them my speed history on dslreports, some down around 200k, and they are knocking half off my bill for this month. They said I should expect to see improvements in about 2 weeks as they put in more routers. That was 2 weeks ago. So far, no improvements.

I'm having the EXACT same problem... for the past 2 weeks my gaming pings have been over 600, when they used to be under 150. @Home tech support is worthless... they can't give me any answers other than, "Sorry... we don't support online gaming".
My lights flash constantly, too. But they did before the problem started also. It is really frustrating. Nothing I try improves my pings... but my upload and download speeds are unaffected.
Any answers to this problem would be greatly appreciated... I'm close to switching to DSL, too. I wonder if I would still have the same problem??

@HOME Problems
I have been having problems for the last few weeks. My pings are a little higher than normal, but my biggest complaint is bandwidth. I seem to be downloading at a normal speed, but when I upload, download drops to dial up performance or worse!!! Any ideas? I have done all of the registry tweaks.

Im not the only one?
I cant believe some of you are having the same issues I am having. Everything was running great before the first weekend of September..then bang! Major slow down! I have called tech support, and even went through a service call with no results. They keep telling me everything looks normal and seem content that I must not know what Im talking about. But, when you go from consistant downloads above 600kbs to nothing above 140kbs thats pretty easy to notice. Also, someone mentioned light flashing. Well my recieve light flickers all the time...never did it before. Its been almost a month now and my rating of @home has decreased greatly.
