Why? Even though Microsoft isn't going to ship the 600,000 or so units that they promised, there's still going to be a decent amount. And even though pre-orders are GONE everywhere, I'm not expecting a PS2 rush to get one.Originally posted by Qwijib0
Heck, buy two and sell the other on ebay at a 50% markup...
i agree, i could be wrong though. i plan to do the "wait and see" before i buy one.Originally posted by BIGJIMSLATE

There's no denying the Xbox frenzy is reaching critical mass - this week we've seen more new gameplay footage than we know what to do with. Well, okay so we know what to do with it (see below). Somewhere between 15-20 titles will be available at launch and approximately 30 titles will be on the street for holiday. Those of you who plan to use Xbox as an excuse to clear out your "sick time" before year's end will have no lack for entertainment.

Don't really know, I think its a custom "X-chip" that they made, that's a step above the GF3.
And I think Gen-Fu is just a little too happy to be fighting Helena here.

always wanted a Console when SNES came out later on PS1.
I'd like to get an XBox, but there are other things more important I have to pay for

If any one of you guys work at a retailer that is going to be selling or renting the xbox such as, best buy, hollywood video, Target, etc. go to this site here Its called the xbox roadshow and you just register for the event closest to you. you not only get to do some hands on demo'ing of xbox games, but you'll more then likely get some free stuff.

Screw the X Box, just get a GBA. It's mountains of gaming pleasure in the palm of your hands.

The screen, although it saves a LOT of battery power, is very hard to see under most circumstances.
Don't worry about that. Silent Hill 2 is out, and the biggest console game in a long time, MGS2, will be out before the end of the year.Originally posted by fanta
I dont know. I'm still skeptical about actually buying a microsoft product![]()
If MS pulls of a successfull launch and first year with X-box, I will be more than surprised.
The PS2 is starting to collect dust...shame on you Sony.
No year-end price drop on the PS2 though.

Nope. The X-Box is more powerful than some peoples machines right now. Linux can run in real time on memory alone. As far as gaming performance...that wouldn't be affected one way or the other unless the Linux community ports games specifically for the X-Box that weren't meant to run on it in the first place.Originally posted by colour
whats the benefits of having linux on consoles? wouldnt that be detrimental to gaming performance?
This is a contest BTW...I forget the prize money involved but it sure would be cool IMHO if this happened.
the implications are this...open source developed games (free) that are distributed over the net...burnt to CD and then played on the X-Box. I think it's a win -win situation but MS has vowed that Linux won't and can't be run on the X-Box so that was the challenge to the Linux folks.
Having an open source game, or in other words a free game isn't as good as it sounds.Originally posted by uod2001

All of the most popular games are developed by large companies with big budgets to match. Theres no way in hell a company could recoup millions of dollars by giving away their game for free. The whole gaming industry is based on business....it brings in billions of dollars in profit every year!
how can you trust microsoft with a gaming system when they cant even get hotmail to work right?
Heck, MSN messanger doesnt work right either!
