Swapping out nic card
Is it as easy as swapping out hard drives or memory? What Im trying to say is does your ip change? Does your tweaks have to be set up again? Does your computer name change? Do you have to contact the @home peeps? All that crap and then some. Bottom line can I swap cards and get on with life easily? Thanx in advanced.
Everything but your Ip should stay the same if you our running win 98,98se or win Me, Other wise as was stated if you are running xp you may have reinstall the os. I know with my provider if I switch cards it just changes the Ip and I do not have to call them. Hope Home is the same, But beings they give your computer a name you might want to call them in advanced. GoodLuck!
:nod:Have A Nice Day!!!!!!!!!
If you change out the nic card and 4 OTHER pieces of hardware like an AGP card or a sound card or whatnot...WinXP Product activation will kick in....this is a new Microsoft policy where they have eased up on WPA...in other words they are being more lenient and tweaker friendly....but those figures do stand and they are straight from Microsoft.Originally posted by Lobo
I hope your not on WinXP!!! from uod2001, ma pork chop buddy
if you change out nic cards and do 4 or more other changes...winxp product activation will kick in and you will have to do a reinstall.
I have changed NIC cards 7 times, im on XP, no reinstall??????????

P.S. MS also says that if you don't change out the NIC...you can change up to 7 other components before WPA will kick in...
BTW, I'm not a pork chop...I'm a meatloaf!!!! LOL
