Help me fix my RCVwindow???

Post by SpeedDemon »

Take a look below and give me a simple/lamins terms way to increse speed....
Thanks

TCP options string = 020405b40101040201030300

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 5840
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 5840
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 233.6 kbps (29.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 93.44 kbps (11.68 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 49 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
Chicks like me like it fast, hard and broadbanded!

That looks ruff, but I guess you know that:

Click on Help Thread & Tips below in signature and read, please leave your OS and system specs if you have not done so. Also if you have Cablenuts adjuster installed I need to know that. Take analyzer AFTER you install SG's speed patch an post results so I can see if patch is in. In my signature, Click on Test Tweak Here, Thank you and good luck.

How to post TCP/IP Test:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank
you.

Please leave system specs and Cable or DSL, OS, RAM, CPU Size :) :) Yoo-Hoo, Mam, above

Bad girl, says nothing on help thread about ccs file, OK on your desktop is icon that says Cablenut, click on it, then on adjuster, when that comes up, click on delete Cablenut tweaks at bottom, save to registry, and REBOOT, then re-run Speedguides speed & web patch, you already downloaded them re-run them, take analyzer test and show me, please

I don't know whats wrong, start over, uninstall Cablenut in icon on desktop there's one, back to help thread and do only what it says, pretty please, redownload SG's patches, they will just overwrite the ones you have already downloaded, unzip and install, REBOOT, retest

I am going to leave this for you in case you come back tonight, the only way it will work is if on your TCP test it says 256960 after RWIN, if it does you did it and owe me netty kissy's, jk

For Win 9x bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside icon on desktop in box that says Cablenut, click on adjuster, in box that says DefaultRvcWindow take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 522680, 524176, 531440, 554800

Leave GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize blank
You do not have to show me but check analyzer here at SG to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work.Click on tools at top of IE, internet options, delete files and offline files (This is safe, temp files) and click on clear history after EVERY test Fast speed test here
Speedtest may open another browser, so check taskbar and close other one, no other programs should be running, No AIM, ICQ, Virus scanner, Firewall, nothing
Once you find fast number for you, you want to save it, on file at top of adjuster click on that, save custom settings, put RWIN size in as name and click on save, now if you ever want these settins back, click on file, open custom settings file, and click on RWIN number, then click on save to registry at bottom, and REBOOT, your done

I am sorry that you went through and typed all that instructions for nothing...but thanks soooo much...

I think I finally got it...
What happened was...for some reason, I had to clear my cache before running the test again..once i did..the RWIN was the correct number and things are good....

You are a real doll for all your help...
I really do appreciate it and i dont care what anyone says...youre a peach!!!
LOL
Thanks again.....
and i put the results to the test below....i think its right now...if not...oh friggin well!!

I know that they will make me faster....see, when I first became a member or junior member...WHATEVER---I had Adelphia-powerlink as my provider................

My speeds were awful but after lots and lots of tweaking, i had some of the best speeds out of everyone on these boards.....

Then, recently, comcast@home took over and sent me this new modem and blah blah blah....

I just dont have as much time to sit around and fuss with this thing as I did back then. Even though I like having loads of speed (hense the name), I think my speed is really good......yes, its better today since we got me a little tweaked, but its not worth it to me to stay up till all hours of the night, bitinng my nails, twitching my feet in the hopes that I will gain more and more Kb's per sec everytime I restart my computer and activate some tweak........

I admire anyone who can spend THAT much time and energy on it ans yes, its is totally worth it if your speeds are extermely slow and not much better then a 56k, but, mine are much better then a 56k......

From time to time, when i have time.......I like to come on to the boards here and check out what some of the topics are and maybe if I have time.....do a little tweakin'........

I mainly like reading the posts where people with great speeds, and shouldnt be complaining ARE complaining "How do I get more speed?"........
That just cracks me up! They can download a 200MB file in seconds...and thats not good enough....OH BOY! Thats borderline OCD....
But hey, we all need a hobby, I guess...

But Lobo.....Thanks so much for all your help....I seem to be pretty well tweaked for now.....
Your a real nice guy for taking all that time to help me......

Have a good day and "Godspeed"....i mean...GOODspeed everyone!!
