Can Someone Look at my stats And Tell me if i can go any faster i did a speed test and got 674/19
i called rogers and the told me i had a cap of 3000/400
i tried cablenut and got some improvements installed tweaks etc my download starts fast and then drops
(specs)
Amb Thunder Bird 1200, 300 megs of ram, Windows Me
TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 373360
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 46670
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

Click on help page below in signature and follow directions exactly, please leave your OS and system specs if you have not done so.Also if you have Cablenuts adjuster installed I need to know that. On 2nd page of help page at bottom are some Tips and how to do speed test. Thank you and good luck.
After you do help page try this:
For Win 9x bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside icon on desktop in box that says Cablenut, click on adjuster, in box that says DefaultRvcWindow take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try:64240, 531440, 554800 and 560640
Check analyer in my signature where it says Test Tweak Here to see if RWIN is in, Right after where it says RWIN, remember you must save to registry and REBOOT each time you change number
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value How do do speed test
1. The best time is early in the morning (3 AM - 6 AM)
2. Make sure defrag has been run so no files are fragmented
3. Delete Temp internet files, not while testing, but after each test. IE browser, click tools, internet options, click on delete files and no this will not harm system, just get rid of temp files
4. Go to a fast server such as http://www.happypuppy.com and click on 10 demos, select a LARGE file to download (not all of it , just most of it, before you click cancel) this will show you how fast you are downloading, it's not going to be quick except except early in morning when not many people on net. I recommend you go to http://www.analogX.com and download Net State live, run this while downloading as it will give you avg of your download speed, really all you need on Net Stat is incoming data, incoming totals and Local machine, right click on Net Stat anywhere, stactics and check these 3 items, the rest need not be checked unless you want them, all you care about is average. Another fast download site is ftp.lucasarts.com
Put system defrag in scheduled tasks to run everyday.
5. Probably the most important, nothing can be running during test, no firewalls, no virus stuff, no ICQ, no AIM (some of you may have to go into BIOS to disable virus scanner, nothing running except Net Stat live
Scheduled tasks will run disk defrag, 98 & SE in Taskbar, WIN ME in control panel
The people who want speed surfing or doing whatever must close all other programs.
(NOTE: at present time http://www.AOL.com seems to be fastest download site, at bottom download aol 6.0)
Or if you wish you may go to http://www.testmyspeed.com and do one of the online tests, these vary to much for me but you may like them.

Try fast settings in Cablenuts adjuster:
How to install Cablenut Software
This will also install Cablenut on your desktop, click on this and RIGHT click on adjuster, click on shortcut to desktop, this will put it on your desktop. Click on adjuster and to be sure to click on options at top, choose operating system and make sure you have selected right one, very important. OK, close out of that.
Next, inside Cablenut on desktop click on that, then ccs (Cablenut Custom Settings) select which type of connection you have, 56K, PPPoE or DSL, or Cable. Then select the setting you think best for your connection. 9x means Win 95/98/SE/ME, 2k would be Win 2000 and XP. Fast or normal, depends on you, try both and see which one you like best, just go back to top of adjuster click on file and select the ccs setting you like best, click on save to registry at bottom and REBOOT.
This will enter some values in adjuster, blank boxes only mean that default value is being used, click on save to registry at bottom (Do this anytime you change a value in adjuster and REBOOT or it will not work.
Note: Check back often for updates and new patches
Also on 2nd page of help page in my signature it tells you how to save your setting's. Installing Cablenut Software will remove any prior patches

Forgive the intrustion...I've been on broadband for about half a year..and since my downloads average about 80K to 150K, I figured I was "Fine"......then my buddy with DSl told me he is usually around 500K down, and has had downloads as fast as 1.2mbps.
SO I wandered over here and took a look at the forum and saw this thread..and did the analyzer and....well...here are my numbers:
TCP options string = 0204059c01010402
MTU = 1476
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
MSS = 1436
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1436, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
505472 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
252736 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
126368 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63184 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 115 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
I'm thinking...........I've got some very screwed up registry here.
I followedt he link to tweaks and stuff, and using the CABLENUTS registry "window" almost all of my fields are blank..!?
Except for the RcvWindow which I have plugged in at 560640.
Uh....like I said, my downlodas average 80K to 150K...once...one night I got 540K sustained on a transfer.....and was floored. 17 megs in about 10 seconds.
But.....that was a long time ago and I think I need some serous help. Can one of you guys recommend a solution here? I have no idea how to get my system back to square one and then go from there...I've downloaded iSpeed and the MTUSpeed thing...and of course CableNut to see what the settings are....uh...can you guys help?
Please?

ajahosafag, that is not speed test but analyzer, do this:
Click on help page below in signature and follow directions exactly, please leave your OS and system specs if you have not done so.Also if you have Cablenuts adjuster installed I need to know that. On 2nd page of help page at bottom are some Tips and how to do speed test. Thank you and good luck.

I am using the following speed test site and am currently (at about 10pm on the east coast) getting 300-390k downloading their 50 meg demo file...very fast for me on my @home connection.
Uh...am I in the ballpark? note: I live in a fairly older residential neighborhood, I dont think alot of folks are on cable in my neighborhood....all I know is my half life pings online are in the 40's most of the time
But....I have this nagging feeling I'm not going fast enough......I'm trying to follow the instructions using the CableNuts software.
My current settings are...hmm...Trying the DL again, now I'm getting closer to 450 K....
I dunno..is that good? Is that bad? Why does the SpeedGuide info page tell me I'm limited to abou 360K down (now, after cablenut win 9X cable tweak installed) when that dude in Ontario is showing like HUGE numbers!?
PS: before I foreget, thanks to all who reply.....

HeadRusch, First start your own thread I am getting confused, second you have a router, you need lastest firmware to up MTU plus do this and take analyzer test again, your RWIN is 65535, it does not matter what you have in registry:
Go to Speedguides tweaks here-below in my signature. Once on patch page you need Vtcp386 Fix
patch for your OS (Make sure you get right one) Download and install, reboot, and retest and do this please so I can make sure patch is in:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Thank you.
If you did this already find box in Cablenuts adjuster that says Tcp1323Opts and set it to 1, save at bottom and REBOOT before you test

MTU should be 150:D
