I have an idea...

Post by nocturnal »

I was reading this story linked from the front page of this web site when an idea occured.

Why not build computers into refrigerators? I'm serious ;) here! Who needs a crisper anyway. Take that silly thing out and viola, ton's o'room for the old CPU. I mean think of the possibilities. Not only does it keep your computer cool, but when you want to upgrade it with, say a new vid accelerator card or cpu the beer and salsa is a mere arms reach away.

hehe :D sounds like a good idea to me ... but what about when your doing some drinking and your reaching for the beer knocking things over and such? .... I guess you could mount the motherboard to the side-wall of the frig.

This is not too far off the mark.

In the seventies, IBM built many 370's that were water cooled.

Earlier than that, their original disk drives, called RAMAC, used automotive transmission fluid and hydraulic pressure to position the heads.

Last week I was looking at some old photos of the first video displays, built for the DEW line defense system. They were 19" and the CRT's were 6 1/2 feet long.
