UltraDMA

Post by Ahoyhoy »

I've got a 30gig Quantum 7200rpm ATA-100 HD. Problem is, when I run some performance tests with nothing in the background, my drive only reads and writes data at a pitiful 4 MB\sec. I went to the device manager, then clicked disk drives, then clicked Generic IDE Disk Type01. I noticed that DMA was unchecked, so I enabled it. I restarted my computer, and it couldn't get back into windows. It said the registry was looking for some type of file. Well, I just restored my registry, and it was working fine again. What can I do to get my speeds up to its full potential. Ahoyhoy

do you have it installed on your ATA/100 controller on your mobo? What mobo and ATA/100 controller do you have? do you have the drivers installed properly for it?
