Yeah it's called "You've Got A Virus"

Hope you have an antivirus program that's fairly new, and if so, update your definitions. If you wish to keep any of the files you have infected, oh boy, you're almost better off running FDISK and Format C:.

Virus

Post by Storm90 »

If you have a bootup disk for your virus program try useing it. To clean the virus out. It may work. But from the way you described whats happing. You may be better off reformating the c drive and reinstalling windows. As was suggested. GoodLuck! ;)

Don't you read about the Visual Basic Script Virus's/Worms.

You know you sent that Virus/Worm without your knowledge to everybody in your Outlook express contacts list.

I bet a lot of people are going to be pev'd at you!!!

Basically, you MP3's and JPG's are probably all Gone.
Because as I read it, the virus that did that too you, not only renamed all the files with a VBS extension, it actually copy itself onto that file, meaning the files that were there are gone and the VBS script has taken its place.

There is someplace that could have helpped you.
Thats Microsoft Windows Update.
Thats where you get all the patches to help guard against worms embeded in email.

Also you should never ever click on a file in an email or a porno newsgroup with an .vbs extension.

People try to hide the .vbs extension with a lot of spaces.. LOL

YOu really ought to pay attention.

You mostlikely have a lot of useless data on your hard drive.

I'de get out a clean boot disk and FDISK your drive and reinstall your version of Windows again.

YOu really got to pay more attention to the Virus outbreaks in the world so you know what not to click on.

Me thinks you have the "I love You.VBS virus or some varyant of it.

How about opening files that you dont know what they are, running things on your computer that you dont know what they are or what they do. Leaving holes open in your system by not getting patches from MS to close those holes, setting the network settings wrong and allowing someone direct access to your computer. Opening e-mail attatchments that were sent by someone you may not know or opening a .vbs file somehow, or by not having an anti-virus scanner.

My suggestion to you is get an Anti-virus scanner and see if that will fix anything. Keep it updated with the latest definitions. Keep your eye open on one of the tech sites around and watch for virus alerts so you dont fall into one by accident.

dont you guys love explaining viruses to people?

ok Kastel86, you probably got the virus thru your email, a guy i know got the Sircam worm thru yahoo mail a few days ago, its easy to get thru outlook and outlook express. or you could have gotten it thru a file you downloaded. its always a good idea to run a virus scanner, get norton or mcafee. to get rid of the virus, well, at this point you probably can't, like the guy said, your mp3's are probably gone, the file is still there, but its filled with useless 1's and 0's as the virus is meant to do that, hope you know how to format, cause thats what your gonna have to do, also, if there are any documents you want to keep, dont save them to disk, assuming you can still open them, they will probably already contain the virus, just print them out

the main thing to remember, dont save anything to a disk to back it up as this will put the virus on the disk and spread it to whatever computer you put the disk in next

next step, formatland

first off man, did you use a virus scanner yet???
even if you erase it, it will have probably infected files that you don't know about.
or the nature of the virus, it might not let you erase the files that are infected.

Just format dude! There is no saving your files man! I had the same thing happen to me, except whatever it was changed my volume label to funny looking little symbols :D . I was FORCED to FDISK and format.

The sooner you start the format, the sooner you will finish.

kastel86,

You act dumb on the forums...very dumb. You ask the same question over and over, and it gets answered! OVER AND OVER!

Yet when I confront you, you act professional.

What gives?

You say your question hasn't been answered? Your question was answered so many times it's making my head spin. In case you didn't hear it the first 12 times, FDISK and FORMAT! All of it, everything. You have been taken by a virus, probably the "I Love You" virus as was mentioned before. If you had a virus scanner on with up to date Dat files, this probably would not have happened. n But it did, so cut your losses and get started wiping it out. Your files are infected, and the chances of you saving any of them are almost nil.
