I just installed the Access Manager V1.5a. this made one key change to my registry
that cut some of my speed!!!!!!!! I went from 1.4 Mbps to 1.2 Mbps
The change has to do with the RWIN values.
but don't get too been out of shape, it can be fix with fast and easy.
this is how SG tills you to set your RWIN in regedit, (sorry this can only be done it
regedit, cablenut and patchs will not work here.)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP
DefaultRcvWindow="256960" (string var, the maximum value of this setting is 2^30,
or
1Gb in Windows 98/98SE/ME).
Note: For best results RWIN has to be a multiple of MSS (MaxMTU-40) lower than
65535
times a scale factor that's a power of 2, i.e. 44 x 1460 = 64240 x 2^2 = 256960. If
you
choose to use a RWIN lower than 65535, you can simply make it multiple of MSS and
turn scaling off (Tcp1323Opts=0)
they have changed it so it is no longer a String Value but it is now a DWORD Value
by the same name. this cases the speed lose and is why cablenut and patch will not
work, you can't have two values of the same name in the same place, even if there
different values. ie DWORD and String. both the patch and cablenut will not delete
this DWORD from the registry so they will not work in replacing the DWORD with a
String value.
The fix is simple, with regedit fallow the path shown above and delete the DWORD
Value DefaultRcvWindow and replace it with a String Value of the same name and
RWIN value that you want, save your registry and restart your computer.
After you have deleted the DWORD value patchs and cablenut will work again, So
you can pick how you put in the RWIN value.
Here is a list of RWIN values for PPPoE:
46464, 63888, 92928, 127776, 185856, 255552, 371713, 511104

Actually, u can use Cablenut to Tcp1323Opts=1 with the new sympatico 1.5 access manager update.
I installed the 1.5 update about a week ago and I was kind of annoyed that none of my RWINS could be changable as I inputed them into cable nut and rebooted. So I changed Tcp1323Opts to 1 (instead of a blank), Rebooted and...Voila, I could change my RWIN values.
