Reinstall Win98 without losing everything?

Post by jokey1 »

Since my cable modem has been acting so screwy lately, I think its time to reload Windows.

Is there a way to reload windows without having to reinstall all my other software?

Thanks

Load up windows then stick in the win98 cd. It will give you some choices then just start setup. that should do.

If youre having an ugly problem with Windows, just reinstalling over the top won't fixed the nasty registry mess and the nasty IE mess. It will have all the drivers and everything installed correctly but the ugly stuff will still be configured in the registry and IE and any weird symptoms will most likely still be present.

You need to delete all files including hidden files from the root directory and the entire windows directory and the entire program files directory.

The easiest way to do it is to format the boot drive and reinstall everything clean!
