anyone use this? Are they faster that @home? Have to switch by the 17th,and want to know.
Thanks Agustin
They list dl at 280 and upload at 128. This might suck. What speed is a regular @home account listed at?

Well, maybe. $699 is what Time Warner charges for the same without any CIR. This kind of pricing started when T-1's were $2000 per month, and at the time they represented a great savings. Today you can get a T-1 or SDSL in Columbus for maybe less than $600, but if you went to one of the smaller cities in Ohio you would still be over $1000.
All of the cableone.net locations are in the boonies. I bet they pay a bundle for their links to the web.
I'm curious - did your local cable company drop @Home?

My ISP, HTC@Home is fixing to drop @Home.
I'm sure their are more reasons than just the ones they told me about, but anyway, I'm glad that they are dropping @Home.
@Home throttles the download speed to 40KB/Sec reason #1
starts out at 360KB/Sec sometimes even higher and continually drops to 40KB/Sec during the course of the download
@Home constantly loseses the ability to accquire DHCP lease #2
@Home has severe email problems #3
@Home NOC support located in Tennesse? (HTC keeps mentioning that location) non-exsistent #4
These are just a few reasons my ISP is dropping @Home
Can't wait till the end of this month.....

iSpark - Fired up! and ready to GO!
ATT sold my local cable area to cableone. This was in February. I still got @home internet, and didn't think anything of it. Just got a letter today telling me that I have to switch over to cableone by the 17th. I am not going to switch over until the 16th. I hope this is still fast. On the DSL Reports test site I logged my zip code of 83350 and 83318(next town over) to see if anyone else was on there. I must be the only one that tweaks the connection. My speed test showed 3400kps and the local DSL provider was 610. Looks like I might be screwed. I guess I might have to take up the offer from local DSL place to work tech support part time and get a discount on the lineOriginally posted by Kip Patterson
