ok when i try to run scandisk and it says the drive is locked by disk utility or another program, wait for it to finish then run scan disk, well it was in safe mode and i had nothing running, unintalled fix it utilities and rebooted, tried again and no luck.

(I thought of this idea all by myself, but I havent tried it yet to see if it'll work)
You know how if you have trouble defragging, you shut down all tasks and try? Then if that doesnt work, you go into the system.ini files and change the shell from explorer to defrag? I havent tried that, but heard enough to believe it to be true. Well, why cant you create a startupdisk and change the shell inside the startupdisk. That way, nothing has to be changed. I assume if this were to work, you could also put the scandisk as the shell; and after you rebooted upon completion you'd be back to normal!
