I used the tcp/ip analyzer and this is what im getting: I know this sounds simple, but i cant seem to find maxframe size, so that i can change it to 1492 (i have DSL). Can someone please help. I read lobo's page, but couldnt find max frame size in my registry for nothing.....
TCP options string = 020405500103030201010402
MTU = 1400
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.
MSS = 1360
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1360, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 255552
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 63888
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
522240 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 8)
261120 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 4)
130560 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 2)
65280 (MSS x 48)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10222.08 kbps (1277.76 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4088.832 kbps (511.104 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 47 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

thanks lobo and jax. I am using win 98SE. So instead of trying to find max frame size, i should be trying MTU? I USED cablenut's analyzer and changed it to 1492 on mtu. is there anything else i should be adjusting, because i am somewhat confused. I have installed cablenut 4.0, speedguide's 98 patch, and the webloading patch. My downloads are on an average of 150-170 kbs, so that isnt too bad i guess. Just would like to tweak it a little more . What else should i do? Should i take a pic of my cablenuts adjuster and post it so u can see my numbers and a snapshot of my download speed? Thanks so much for your help guys.
thanks for all the help so far. Well, i am a biology/chemistry teacher , so i am at school right now and i cant take that pic of my adjuster till i get home. As for the pppoe client, eviljax, i am not sure, so where do i find that? (please dont laugh). It seems that whenever i go to cablenuts adjuster and change it so 1492 and save it to my registry, and then i go to speedguide's analyzer, it still says mine is 1400, so that is what i am confused about?

hey lobo, i went into the dsl help section and went through the steps local machine all the way to netrans (000x...etc) . For the life of me, i CANNOT FIND maxframe size anywhere. I checked them all and in each subfolder (0000, 0001, 0002, etc), but nothing about maxframe size.....
Hey evil, how do i find out my isp. bellsouth is my dsl provider....
thanks men

Thanks lobo. I had already d'loaded the enternet 100 patch, and tried to run the .inf files and change all the maxframe size to 1492, but i dont know if i am doing it right. I extracted the enternet file and opened the .inf files and looked to see what the numbers said, and they were all at 1492? Am i doing something wrong because the analyzer still said i had mtu @ 1400. I read thoroughly how to install the enternet 100 and i just may not be doing it right. Or do i install the enternet 300 instead? Damn, im sorry for all the quesiton, but i think i am reallly close to getting this right....hope u can be patient bro' ...thanks
Try reinstalling Enternet... using Winzip Classic mode, you can view the files before extracting them. Make the inf changes there. Then when you install it, it's default MTU will be set to 1492.
