uncapping IS possible
First of all, it is possible to uncap a cablemodem. You just have to have an old LanCity cablemodem. I do, I am on @home, and I just uploaded a file at 150KBYTES/sec. There really is only a few settings you have to change and you need only two files. ****UPC.EXE and a microsoft dll file msvbvm60.dll. If you are lucky enough to have the old LanCity cablemodem, do some searching, you can find the file on the internet. and IT DOES WORK!
Good for you, Hope your ISP finds out and charges younullFirst of all, it is possible to uncap a cablemodem. You just have to have an old LanCity cablemodem. That "uncapper" is the only program of it's kind, the programmer got charged for writing it, and it only works becaause it exploits a vulnerability of an old version of Lancity modems with certain firmware. Since then, most of these modems are out of the maarketplace, the program does not work with newer Lancity or anyt other brand modem. It also does not work on DOCSIS complliant systems.
As I said, this is the only program that ever worked, and it only worked on a certain old type of Lancity modems.

I am positive I have a cap. I've had @home for 2 years and was around for the 16KByte cap.. and about a year ago it was raised to 32KByte. I have been running a rinky-dink FTP server for over a year now and have never made it over 40KByte. And i'm talking BYTES, not bits. 256kbits=32KBytes, 128kbits=16KBytes. 1.2mbits=150KBytes. So, if you have a LanCity modem, try it out!
