SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 54 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

That's as good as it gets with Speedguide tweak for win98 and me. You can experiment with turning timestamps on, but for the most part seems to have better results with it off. If you need a program to monitor your speeds, I would recomend NetStat Live from www.analogx.com and then try downloading a large file from happypuppy.com or another fast FTP site. ;)

No I'm sorry but you need the scaling on unless you want a very small RWIN and slower speeds, Speedguide sets your RWIN to 256960, with scaling off it would be 64240, I don't belive that is where you want to be :confused:

Lobo: I'm glad you follow threads! I meant to say TIMESTAMPS but the wife came in and messed me all up and I said Scaling. :o

ok guys, have a ?,over at dsl reports they seem to always frown on high rwin's,seems like every post i read they tell people to use 32767 or something like that, now ive tried using lower rwin's and it slowed me down, now im not putting them guys down by no means, is it because they are dsl,i use comcast@home,im always looking for the most speed ,the best tweak etc,speedguides patch has done the best for me, 750mhz, winme,256 ram thnks speedguide

Yes dsl is a dsl site thus they like small RWIN's but since you are on cable, I would not listen to what they say about RWIN's :eek:
