This & That

Post by tomco2000 »

I am running a PII 233 with 32 mb ram and Windows 95. I have a 6.4 GB hard drive partitioned into 3 drives (c,d,e - came this way from Dell).

My new cable modem works pretty good, but I notice my hardrive is really getting a workout. It seems like it is constantly accessing.

Is this normal and is there something I can do to help this. I'm not sure why I'm seeing this constant hard drive access.

Thanks

One other thing; most times than not, when I exit IE 5, it gives me an error box that the program has caused a fault.......etc.

Sometimes I can clear this box and go on, but sometimes I have to reboot to clear the box. This seems to happen more If I close IE while it is in the middle of loading a web page.

This is just a possibility, but you may need more memory. When windows runs out of memory,it uses the hard drive.
Have you checked your systems' virtual memory? If it's the default(let windows pick)and you only have 32megs of ram,it will access the HD a lot.
This is only an idea,it's hard to diagnose without actually being hands on.
Good Luck!
