Ver 1.38.4 of the firmware is, in almost all cases, showing improved throughput. Corrects many MTU problems also and adds SPI. Many improvements.

dannjr.- it looks like the answer is YES!

It appears that 1.38.4 corrects the PPPoE upload limit. Prior versions have limited your upload packet size with PPPoE to 1362 (it is slightly more complicated than this -- but that is the basic idea). Our tests with 1.38.4 show PPPoE upload packets of 1492. This would be a first for Linksys. More tests are being done.

Below is what I have been able to glean from the threads there. And apparently the Linksys now defaults to an MTU of 1492 for PPOE in ver. 1.38.4. DEFAULTS, as in having no registry entries to conflict with that setting. :)

The 1.38.2 and the 1.38.4 have the same PPPOE code in the firmware,, all they changed was some UPD problems with the NAT.

Beta 1.38.4
Standard firmware for general usage.
1.38.4 Mar 28, 01
1.fixed an UDP problem in NAT module.
2.Novell and Cisco VPN router.

Beta 1.38.4c
The 4c addresses 3Com PPPoA Modem to Router problems.
Has special fixes for 3Com modems and PPPoA included in this beta.
1.38.4C 3COM (beta)
1.change the ether_type field in ehternet packet to meet 3COM's PPPoE spec.
So, this version will not work on other PPPoE environment.
