CPU cooling program ????

Post by Scoot »

Lot's of us use them,
Cpuidle,rain,waterfall.....etc...
They work by issuing the cpu the halt command which shows up on a resource meter as 100% usage.
What they do is idle your cpu whild not in use to keep it running cooler.
My question is how does this affect the console version of F@H since it run's on extra cpu cycles?
Would it be beneficial to disable this software for this project if it is not needed for say overclocked units that really need the cooling?

Those cooling proggys use the HLT command when a CPU cycle is idle, but since Folding/SETI/etc. use all the idle cycles, there are no more idle cycles. Thus, the cooling proggy's don't have any effect.
