Internal ADSL modem ISP Sharing

I have a network linked together Lan card to Lan card using a crossover patch cable. The network works really good. I'm trying to share my DSL conection using proxy. I get it to work somtimes but I can,t download on the shared system and very slow.Can I share with internal modem and patch cable. I need to know how to set this up and configure my ports...Please help me...Thank you

It's probably best to get a hub and connect the computers from there. You will get better performance and flexibility this way.

Will I still need to use a proxy server? If so can you recommend one..I have trouble setting up ports..Any source for setup help?

No you don't need proxy server just to share your DSL connection. All you need is a NAT software. You can run win98 SE or Win2K and install ICS. You will need 2NICs for the pc that is going to be the "gateway".
