New lawnmower day

Post by Easto »

Mrs. Easto leaves for work the other day. Moments later she calls me and tells me someone has a free lawnmower sitting on the parkway outside their house. I walk down there to take a look and I couldn't believe me eyes. It's a smaller Craftsman model with a Honda engine. The perfect size for my small lawn. As far as condition goes I'd give it a 9 out of 10. I can't believe they were giving it away. The best part about all this was that I was looking for a new mower, it was on my shortlist of things I needed around the house. I just saved myself $400!

It's a wonderful thing :) Honda makes some of the best small motors.

My wife's sister once cleaned up the garage while her husband was out of town... and took to the curb a couple of lawn mowers that were working. One of them was my old Craftsman lawnmower that I had lended him, and another one was a riding lawnmower he had that needed some fixing. It needed a small repair, spark-plug/belt or something of the sort, but they were both gone within the hour, and her husband wasn't happy, to say the least. I wasn't that distraught, as it was an old lawnmower I didn't use/need, or had the space for in my cluttered garage, but I still remember it. Good thing my wifey doesn't clean my garage. :rotfl:

That's the thing about stuff like this. So many people just don't want to maintain them and they appear to die years ahead of their time, when in fact they just need a good cleaning, a spark plug and oil change and they're as good as new.

You're right. Also, for all those small engines if you leave them for a few months with regular gas in them, the carburetor can easily get clogged, I always try to use Ethanol-free fuel.
