cna't see dlinl 701

am using a hub/switch with a dlink 701 all works well as far as sharing the modem goes, but I cannot see the modem (sufrboard sb2100d) with any conputer on the network. I must manually turn it on and of to reboot and dail up. the address of the modem is 192.168.100.1. If I connect a computer to the modem directly I can talk to it. any ideas?? I cannot ping the modem from any computer connected to the hub
