Annoying Facebook Messages

Post by Lurch »

I've been getting quite a few FB messages from things like "Deals at Walmart" and other unwanted junk.
I turned off my Windows 10 notifications, which will help a little.
I've blocked the senders, and deleted the chats, but they keep on coming,

Got any ideas what else I could do to put a stop to this recent influx of SPAM?

This is my last one of these unwanted PMs.
Blocking them doesn't help much, there seems to be many more out there.

I really have no idea but my first thought would be to change your password. I'm not sure it will do anything, but just in case someone has hacked your account.

Every so often I check here.... https://haveibeenpwned.com/
to see if any of my info has be compromised.

I'm guessing fb gathered or bought your net or in-store purchasing history and is using it.

Just a guess.

I'd clear my cookies, whatever method.

Fond of SUPERAntiSpyware.
Seems to do well targeting tracking cookies.

Or they might not have anything to do with fb and are just trying to hook you with the name.

Eh I sometimes get random ******* messages like that as well.

Usually its the 'Hot Chick' (prolly a dude trying to catfish anyway) asking if I'm single.
Haven't had one in a while

Are your default settings for posts...private (friends only)....or public?
Go deep into your FB account settings, Privacy, Privacy Checkup, Privacy Center, also in your account....remove apps which have permissions to access your FB, also unlike/unfollow pages which you might be suspect of.

Thanks for the replies. Will do.

The PMs seemed to stop a day or so ago for some reason.
