Strange request... Google Search

Is there anyway I can do a Google search without getting all these "fake" websites that pretend to be what I'm looking for but just end up being shills for someone trying to make some money off of Amazon. Can I create a search that disregards any site with an Amazon link in it?

Interesting question... There is no easy way to exclude those, as far as I know. You can exclude certain sites from search results, but not those spammy ones categorically. The issue stems from the automated crawling algorithms.

Maybe a different search engine is better tuned to downplay the importance of those? I haven't paid much attention to Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, but they may be viable alternatives.

I didn't think there was but I wanted to ask. It just seems like now whenever I do a search and I include the word "Best" or almost anything else I get 3 or 4 pages of "cut and paste" opinions attached to links for Amazon. It's actually wearing me down at times.

I've learned to tune out some of those bogus search results just by looking at the cookie-cutter titles... "7 Best ways to..." "The 12 Most ..... " , " 10 better ways to..."

Then there is the first few lines of Ads I also have to skip... It's getting tedious to scroll, heh.

I don't think it is a search engine issue.
Let me guess, you use Chrome or Edge. Don't. Use Brave instead.

With Brave I never see any Amazon ads, or links at the top of search pages.
Heck, I rarely ever see an ad period. Great for youtube etc.

Brave has options in settings to use any search engine, and no matter which one I use, same deal, so not the search engines fault.

Brave also blocks 3rd party cookies (or all cookies), fingerprinting, tracking, scripts, those new cookie notices forced on web developers.


This sounds like one of the "Culprit" you want to get Brave to stop forcing on your search results (not sure, as I did no testing)......
What is Brave's "De-AMP" feature?
AMP, or Accelerated Mobile Pages, is a non-standard subset of HTML developed and pushed by Google. AMP pages are served from Google’s servers, though designed to look like they’re coming from the original publisher’s site.

Brave does show it's own ads on a new tab if you want it to. Brave only use ads that play nice.

Look into Brave further, it it quite a nice browser. Fast page loads too.
Been using it for a few years now without any problems, and ad free, almost popup free, none of those links on my pages for twitter, google, facebook etc

I don't use Chrome from google, or Edge from MS, but I did startup Edge to see what you were talking about.
What a difference. How do you guys live with all that crap lol

Most of the time I am working in Linux now so Windows other issues only get on my nerves when I need to test new programs I've written for it.

Give Brave a try, I think you'll like it. Even if only to surf and search, it's nice to have a spare browser handy.

Without an ad blocker out front, I don't know of a way to use Googles search engine and only view organic results. Google organizes their search by having the "paid/promod' results up top, and then the organic results in the lower half on the left.

I use uOrigin ad block plugin to cut down on those, and most of my clients have firewalls I have protecting their networks that run ad blocking at the gateway. So I rarely see the "crazy busy advertising" of Googles results.

However, you can user alternate search engines. Granted, we're spoiling by how well Googles search engine really works. Aside from the pay for ads up front, the actual initial organic results are usually very good. If you try going to some other search engines, you may find you get frustrated in how they work. I tried using DuckDuckGo for a while. Ended up changing back to Google. And then I found StartPage, which actually searches via Googles search, so it's forwarding those results, but with privacy and cutting down many ads. Try StartPage.com It's not eliminating the paid for ads up at the top of search results...BUT..it's blocking lots of trackers which drive ads your way, and cross pollinate your devices. Ever notice how you can do a search for something on your laptop, and then get up, go to the bathroom for a bit, pull out your phone and scroll facebook, and you see ads on facebook for products you just searched for on your laptop 5 minutes ago?

And, yeah, Brave Browser is pretty good, I use that for my personal stuff (MadDoc's pr0n site)

I used to use Opera, but got p'd when I found out their supposed VPN wasn't really a VPN, but a proxy server, years ago now.

Brave is set up for, and is their mission, privacy out of the box. No need for any extensions/plugins etc

Another way to avoid a lot of tracking as you surf, and actually an old habit of mine that hasn't died yet.
Open a new tab or window for any links you open instead of just clicking them. Won't stop all tracking, but quite a bit.
