I have 3 computers all connected by a hub and ICS on the server. This is a 2 part question.

1. What protocol should by used for file and print sharing. tcp/ip does not allow the computers to see each other. The only way I can all the computers to talk, print and see each other is to use IPX, NetBuei, TCP/IP. If I use any comb of them something fails.

2. Which MTU file should I place on each computer to speed up TCP/IP The server has a GTE DSL 768/128. Should the server have the ppoe.zip file and the other computers have the plain file. All the computers have win98se. (Win 2000 does not have all my drivers yet for my scanner)

Thanks,

Ray

For TCP/IP for NIC #1 of the ICS computer, don't bind anything to it! Bind Client for MS Networks and File and Print Sharing to TCP/IP for NIC #2 of the ICS computer, as well as all the NIC's for your other computers. There's no need for a protocol other than TCP/IP, except for special cases, such as old multiplayer games that only use IPX, or, in my case, I have a print server that uses IPX or Netbeui, so I use IPX in addition to TCP/IP, but I don't bind anything to the IPX. Too many protocols/bindings slow down your network!
