Wireless VLAN VPN

Post by BillS »

I am not sure where to post this so if this is not the correct forum please let me know where I should post it. First, I am a noob so please bear with me. The bottom line is can I set up a wireless vlan that always uses a vpn client setup on my router so that any device using that vlan will be connected to that vpn without conflicting with my normal Wi-Fi? My goal is to connect my Sonos Connect to the “wireless VPN” so that I can emulate being at my home in the USA not my home in Brazil. I don’t want to interfere with the “normal” Wi-Fi, I want just this one device to connect to the VPN Wi-Fi.

I currently have a guest network setup using the instructions I got from this website, »somethingkdotcom/main/?p=323 but I don’t really use it. I was thinking that I could use it for this project but I don’t know if I can or if it can how to do it.

Here is what I am working with:
Hardware: ASUS RT-AC68P/U B1
Firmware: Tomato Shibby Version 1.28.0000 -3.5-140 K26ARM USB AIO-64K

Can anyone provide suggestions and guidance?
Thanks

If you terminate the VPN at the router, usually it applies to all clients connected to it.

If you want only one client PC to connect via the VPN, then just use VPN software on that one client PC, most VPN providers have their own application you can use.
