Win 98 recongnizes my Fax MACHINE as a dial up adapter!!!!

I'm trying to share my fax machine over my home network. The fax machine plugs into my computers serial port. Its fully compatible with Win95 so it should work well with Win98, right? The problem is, once I attach the fax machine and reboot, Windows sets up the fax machine as a Dial-Up Adapter and as a Microsoft Virtual Private Networking adapter. What the manual of the fax machine wants is a Windows Fax printer driver. How can I set this up on my system. Is the Windows Fax driver on the CD, or is that driver supplied with a second party fax software like WinFax Pro?
