Quick question.

Post by kungfuevil »

This may have been asked before, but i didn't find it using the search function.
I was trying to find something that'll or possibly could help me reduce my ping in a certain mmo.
Now im here, read some mini guide/article about what to set up in the optimizer.

Which states that i must choose the optimal settings, postpone restart, then proceed to advanced settings.
Now, the advanced tab is grey, unless i choose custom, which changes a bunch of settings i have previously applyed with the optimal settings.
Am i doing something wrong?

Thanks for the answers in advance!

The "optimal" settings work for most situations. There are a few more things you can tinker with for gaming. When the Optimizer starts, there are four radio buttons on the bottom: "Windows Default - Current - Optimal - Custom". Depending which one you choose, it displays the current settings, the Windows default, our recommended "optimized" settings, or, the "custom" option allows you to enter your own.

The confusion seems to stem from the fact that the Optimizer can't read 100% of the previously applied settings at startup (some may be the same between default/optimal, others may be adapter-specific, and some may not be readable under all Windows variants). Still, there should be very little difference between "current" and "custom" settings.

I would also read the "Gaming tweaks" article on the main site for additional pointers on what you can change on your end to reduce latency: https://www.speedguide.net/articles/gaming-tweaks-5812
