Modem problem

Post by CableDude »

Motorola Surfboard 5101 cable modem. (I know it is an old Docsis 2 modem)

Everytime I go to http://192.168.100.1/ and click on "Logs" the connection drops.

Signals

Downstream Value
Frequency 693000000 Hz
Signal To Noise Ratio 36.9 dB
Power Level -0.7 dBmV

Upstream Value
Channel ID 3
Frequency 32000000 Hz
Power 54.0 dBmV

It is connected with a splitter (110 dB EMI) from the wall. 1 3.5 dB to the cable box the other to the Modem. Also using a WRT54GL Router.

Have you tried resetting the modem and letting it pull the configuration file back down from your ISP?

Sounds dangerous. (just kidding :) )

I may try directly plugging the modem into the pc and see if that makes a difference. I'm more interested in getting that upstream Power level down (on my own).

If you really want to tackle that upstream power, you may want to replace the splitter with a tap ? --> http://www.speedguide.net/faq/what-is-t ... -and-a-425

Power level has gone down on its own. Must be that - degree weather. Now clicking on "help" also causes disconnects.

Not a very promising first post.. Just sayin'
