How much sleep do you get?

After a decade of bad insomnia, I'm finally getting 7-9 hours of sleep on a pretty regular basis.

Waking up more tired than ever though. It sucks.

Regular schedule, 4 days per week I don't go to work until 11AM. In bed by 11-12, alarm at 9:45. Not much to bitch about there.
Saturdays are 9AM, occasional 8AM Sundays but not that often.

Still some bad nights when it takes me 4 or 5 hours to fall asleep but much better recently. When I wake up before the alarm, which is 99% of the time, there's no way in hell I'm getting out of bed until I need to.

What kind of sleep hours do you get, and how do you feel in the morning?

6-8 hours sleep, sometimes less, never more. I do home improvement work. On days that I have a physically tough go of it I sleep well, get up with more energy. Lazy days = intermittent sleep patterns for me. Good sleep for me depends almost entirely upon: diet, exercise (work) and keeping a step ahead of Life's problems. Incomplete and unfinished problems tend to inhibit my rest.

I can survive on 6 hours but I prefer 8. My problem is that I wake up about 5-7 times a night. I never wake up fully rested. But like Tony, I will sleep better the more exhausted I am. Still, they are always restless nights. I am always thinking about whatever tasks are ahead of me the next day or anything else in life that might be bugging me. It's very seldom that my mind is calm enough to just lay down and fall asleep immediately.

i usually sleep 7-8 hours a night.sometimes all night then sometimes i might wake up 1-2 times but go right back to sleep.guess i am lucky.usually i go to bed 10-11.

Unfortunately 3 to 4 hours a night is about it for me. :(

Like Dan i do nap during the day.

When younger 8 hours was my usual work night and less on the weekends.

7 hrs most weeknights 8 hrs on weekends @ 45 yrs old an afternoon nap is almost required if I want to stay up past 10pm.

If your mind is full of tasks and you cant sleep put the tv on helps

What is this sleep you speak of?

My sleeping pattern.. well I have not had a sleeping pattern in as long as I can remember. Before school my working hours shifted around and now at school my hours are still moving around. As a result I mostly just nap here and there. Some times I go to bed at noon and other times 3 am in the morning. I just go until I can't stay awake any more.

Yesterday I slept from 2 pm to 5 pm, than again from 3 am to 5:30 am. and I have been at the school since 8 am and it won't be until around 8 pm that I get home. There is no consistency here!

TV is the last thing I want/need.
Haven't turned on the TV in the living room in 4 months.

That said, I watch most movies on my computer or finish them in bed on my tablet. Not that different I guess.

I do love naps.

I will usually have my radio on and have the time set to shut off in about 1/2 hour. I find that if I'm sort of passively listening to something it will occupy my mind and thoughts and keep my from thinking about all the other things going on in my life. It does help me fall asleep faster.

Lived off 2, hope for 8, can't imagine 6 on a regular basis is rough as hell but everyone is different.

Is this scheduling, partying, surfing, or insomnia?

Going to be early tonight.

Already dog-tired and have to work a 6th day tomorrow, 3 hours earlier than normal.

Have I mentioned I hate working Sundays?

8-10.
Sometimes less but not often.

I really don't have a set work schedule. That's different then most people so.

Mostly 8-9 hours and not feel tired when I wake up, MOST days. :)

I read a study, will try to find link, that laptops, ebooks and such, are a bad thing to look at before going to bed, something about the light affecting the brain...

I was never one to have tv or radio on when I sleep, unless I fell asleep on sofa, nor read in bed. I have found that if you use your bed for only sex and sleep, you will have an easier time falling asleep as you train your body to sleep when prone in bed...

During/after heart problems, I found out that I have sleep apnea and while heart was being monitored 24/7, I found out that I routinely quit breathing/heart stopped often during the night, for 20 seconds or so at a time. The hospital would call me in night to verify that I was still alive...Yeah, I had to answer the phone! Ever since getting the CPAP and oxygen concentrator I sleep great. Wake up refreshed and not tired... You may want to do a sleep study...

I haven't used an alarm clock in years, I wake up when I wake up and usually get ~8 hours. Quite different than when I was in my youth... If you concentrate on waking up, you will, as I proved to my son.

Not enough sleep is not a good thing, plenty of info on the subject.

Avoid the computer, tv just before going to bed. Do not drink anything that has a stimulant in it like coffee, tea, green tea, cola.
Try a warm shower before going to bed.
If that doesn't work, see your doc.

I have to have a sleep study done. I sleep, but am tired a lot. I know for a fact that I have sleep apnea. When I catch my breath in the middle of sleep, it wakes me up.

I had my sleep study done. Not good at all. Now I know why I have been experiencing complex/simple seizures, short term memory loss and extreme fatigue. The sleep specialist did not want to tell me today. He said: "You do not want to know." I told him he better tell me because I know what I have been going through was from the apnea. He said I stopped breathing over 100 times during the sleep study.

God must have me on auto pilot.

I'm pretty sure I have the same problem but I've never signed up to have the study done. I really should. I wouldn't worry about the results too much. Just take care of yourself.

eh. For me, it was 3-4 hours before my suicide attempt, a good 8 in the ward, 7-8 for a couple weeks after, and now 2-3 a night. Seems like my stress came back and I had /less/ coping skills, even with antidepressants. I think I just broke, honestly.
So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!

It works for some people, just kills me.

I've been better recently :)

Off sleeping pills for several months, bad relationship and been on them since, but they're doing their job.

Just extra crunchy in the morning, which I hate.

Please do get the study done. I know I had it for a long time. It finally took it's toll this year. Total fatigue. I sleep well. I just stop breathing in my sleep. It could lead to heart failure due to lack of oxygen if it progresses.

It is worth finding out.

Sleep and good sleep are 2 totally different things... I do not wake up tired anymore.

Get the study done as if you are the same as Debbie and I it can end up being fatal... I really know someone that died from it... If you want, I can dig up his obituary...

Don't try to resolve your problems when trying to fall asleep, go to your 'happy place'... Your subconscious will solve them better if you allow it to... The bed is for sex and sleep, nothing else... You body will adapt to it. Think happy thoughts...

While spending so much time in hospitals 2007- 2013 (fortunately no hospitals since the pacemaker and correcting the sleep apnea, Yay!!) I taught myself to focus on something good, happy, etc... I build things in my mind... As an example of one of my 'happy places', I design and build a self sustaining community, complete with power from damns, the discharge for the animals- ponds, pens, etc., water flowing through to clean them, diverting to a waste recycle facility. Very detailed and complicated, too much too type... I have designed and built RV's for artic use, the list goes on... Of course, a good 'romp' can tire you out and make you crash,...just be sure to get up and go wee before you crash as that is a major cause of urinary tract infections... :D

Just trying to give you ideas on how to get started, your mind will take it from there ... ;) Shoot me a PM if you want my number for a chat. The things that you can make your body do is incredible. It is medically documented that I have died many times, from different reasons... I mean that most sincere...

Perhaps the horned fellow in the hot spot is afraid of me! Maybe I just have things that I still need to complete in this life. Maybe someone is looking out for me...

I get 4.5 hours a night due to My work schedule. on weekends about 6.5
