Micro SD card question for Smart Phone
I'm currently looking at two different capacity cards the 64gb model and the 128gb model. From all the cards I've reviewed the 64gb models blow the 128gb models away in read/write speeds. My question is I'm purchasing a new Note 4 on Thursday and how much of a "real world" difference between the two cards will I notice? I take a lot of pictures and a lot of video. Thanks.
The capacity of flash media is not what determines read/write speeds. You need to look at what class it is.

LOL. Maybe I didn't word it correctly. When comparing the 64gb and 128gb micro sd cards most are all class 10's, the 64gb capacity card have much higher read/write speeds when compared to the 128gb models though. (I just read Lexar is coming out with a 95mb read speed due out Nov. 1.) As of right now the fastest 128gb I've seen is like 48mb read and the write was averaging around 10mb. My question is when comparing the two cards not the capacity but the superior read/write speeds that the 64gb models possess will I notice a real world difference via a cell phone? I hope that makes better sense. Keep in mind the Note 4's specs 16MP camera and full 1080p recording. ThanksFaust wrote:The capacity of flash media is not what determines read/write speeds. 1080p @30fps, 17Mbps, AAC 121kbps
1080p @60fps, 28Mbps, AAC 121kbps
both those cards are well over the needed speed
the cell phone will compress the video while recording
mine puts out a video of about 18Mbps
wow, after a bit of goolging, i didn't know the note 4 can record in 4k, not sure on the requirements for that though

I've looked haven't seen anything that relates to my question. Think I'll just grab a 64 gb card with fastest write speed I can find. The 128gb counter parts seem like they are at least a month away.Mark wrote:sorry but i really have no idea on what 4k video recording on that phone requires, maybe search on some note 4 forums if they exist ?

I missed that earlier. Just watched it, I was hoping it would be more in depth. But I read this "It seems like some people don't understand bits and bytes. Each byte is 8 bits. 4K on the Note 4 is 50Mbits (roughly 6MBytes/sec). A class 10 card is good up to 10Mbytes/sec (or 80Mbits/sec). Plenty fast for 4K. 4K is shot and recorded directly into SD card without conversion. That's all without UHS-I." So I'm definitely getting the 128gb card, did you see how fast that 4k ate up the memory? Ouch.Mark wrote:look up one post![]()
Thanks very much.
