Is disabling Nagle's Algorithm (TcpNoDelay) and TcpAckFrequency still working on 8.1?

Is disabling Nagle's Algorithm (TcpNoDelay) and TcpAckFrequency still working on 8.1?

Post by kyle1 »

Hi to everyone,

I'm no internet whizzkid, and I honestly couldn't understand some of the threads posted here, hence my question. I just need to know if TcpNoDelay and TcpAckFrequency tweak still works on Windows 8.1. Since I don't know much about registry editing, this is the only two tweaks that I'm planning to do, and I want to know if there's still an effect on my version of windows.

Thanks in advance! ;)

Nagle's Algorithm can't be disabled in Windows Vista/7/8! Only on servers !

none of these works;

TcpAckFrequency=1
TCPNoDelay=1
TcpDelAckTicks=0

Only PLACEBO effect !

If you are using both TCPAckFrequency and TCPNoDelay that makes your system or internet speed slow. Ping doesn't change throughout the whole day but without registry tweak , ping stay lies between 130-150.

TCPNoDelay has nothing to do if you don't have installed MSMQ ! Has nothing to interfere with games , moreover TcpAckFrequency will flood your environment if you set it to whatever value !

I have applied these "tweaks" on several test machines with different OS's and in different environments and have found most only work mainly with XP. Some with Vista and a few with 7. Not so much when using 8 or 8.1 (and I am betting 9 won't have these "issues").

That's what I am talking too ! :) after many tests, nothing is useful with 7 and 8, 8.1 , just Placebo effect ! We strongly hope that Windows 9 will be the best ant sequel of 7 not 8 !

Then why do you keep posting crap about changing or altering the registry?

yeah right, the registry of win7 and win8 are on default, not optimized, cuz Microsoft has nothing to do but to verify all PC's and networks in the world right ?
some machines needs to be corrected on network environments.

End of discussion !

Our entire network runs on default setting and doesn't need any "optimization". Nor does my home network. You are contradicting yourself anyway.
