Not just a bit but straight to the chest and face sprayed by a massive skunk.
Good news, I love the smell.
Bad news, it's still in the burning tire phase, smells like my neighbors on both sides have tire bonfires.
Sitting down to watch Copper (awesome show), heard the dogs going off w/ alarm barks.
Checked the border collie and he's fine.
Looked over and the heeler's scrubbing her face in the grass.
Checked the fence line and just on the other side of a gate leading into my field is a big ass skunk, going nowhere, just hanging out and stamping his front feet.
Neighbor's dog is going berserk, the skunk was probably sniffing around after their chickens and tried to detour through my yard.
Oi, trying to get what I can off her but she got soaked.
My heeler just got full-on skunked

Never fun.
Best stuff I found to help rid the smell...make up a big batch of home made feminine douche mix. The vinegar and baking soda mix works best...can toss in some peroxide to help a little more if you don't mind a bleached dog.
A few years ago I had my peak experience with skunks. Always dealt with them for most of my life, but when I moved over to the town I'm in now...rented a big ol farm house until I sold my home back in my prior town. Anyways...started getting bad skunk situation in the crawl space under the house. I was trapping them and hauling them away myself...but couldn't keep up. Land lord hired a well known local animal control guy...and within a few week period...he caught 'n hauled away 18 skunks from under the house. Said we had 3x generations living down there.
Years ago when I was in my teens (OK...decades ago. :P ) I had a Dobi/Black Lab mix. Awesome dog. She loved chasing critters...including skunks. After several run ins with skunks...where we'd haul her upstairs into the bathtub....one night I heard her wimpering 'n pawing at the front door. I cracked the door open..she rocketed into the house. I quickly caught a wiff...UGH...skunk. Looked for her...went upstairs...found her waiting for me in the bathtub! Smart dog!
