Dell or HP?

Post by BaLa »

Looking at 2 Different (Refurb) Laptops.

Specs are the same, except for the HDD.

Intel C2D 2.8
4 gig RAM
Win7 64bit

HP6530B 2.8g C2D 4gig RAM 320gig HDD
Dell E6400 2.8g C2D 4gig Ram 160gig HDD

As far as the HDD goes, the size isn't a big concern to me, think either the 160 or 320 would be plenty either way.

Yep they're cheap....
I seem to go through Laptops in the Truck, even though I usually turn them off...the HDD or the Laptop usually ends up failing after a few years.

I would stick to Dell when it comes to refurbished hardware. I've not had a very good experience with HP. Also, throw a SSD drive in whatever one you choose to get- they're fairly decently priced now.

The E6400 is a business class Dell so it would be a bit better imho.

Yes. I will admit I don't know enough about that HPs ambiguous model/tier name, but Latitudes are Dell's business-class lappy. Were I to bank on one or the other without more investgation, it would be the Dell.

Dells Latitude series, or better yet....Lenovo Thinkpad T400 series (or T500 series if you want larger). Even more "rugged"...Thinkpad T and X series are like the Ford F-350 series of laptops.
